Managing Director, Ed Williams, and founder, Jamie Laing, spoke at the Cosmopolitan Self Made Summit yesterday. Joining a panel of entrepreneurs, the pair discussed the truths behind launching a business.
This week Jamie and I were invited to spend our Sunday afternoon at the Cosmo Self Made Summit. The weekend-long summit was dedicated to empowering attendees to achieve their #careergoals – there was everything from keynote talks, speed networking sessions and interactive workshops… of course, our Candy Kittens sweet team we’re there too!
Not all startup offices have bean bags and free coffee machines!
Jamie and I sat on a panel titled, “Confessions from the front line of startups”, and were joined by two incredible founders; Devika Wood
) and Dan Murray
). We covered a whole range of topics that revealed the reality of running your own business – not all startup offices have bean bags and free coffee machines!
It’s reassuring to hear from others that have faced similar problems to your own. Devika and Dan have built brilliant companies in totally different sectors to Candy Kittens but their struggles are virtually identical. Above all, you must be totally resilient if you want to succeed in business. We’ve all had more kickbacks that we’d like to remember but we’ll never give up.
It was amazing to be in a room filled with conscientious and aspirational millennial women who want to kick-start their own careers. I hope our story helped push some of those ladies even further, Jamie and I certainly left the room feeling inspired!
