Here at CKHQ, we're taking you all on a trip down memory lane! Throwback Thursday happens right here on our blogs EVERY week. We will be chatting to our founders, Jamie Laing and Ed Williams about the growth and development of the Candy Kittens brand!

Stay tuned WEEKLY for unknown facts, some hilarious stories, and an insight into life at Candy Kittens!

Hey guys, how have you been? Christmas is in 18 days! Are you both prepared?

Jamie: 18 days? Is it really. Wow, then I really need to get organised and finish buying my Christmas presents for people!

Ed: I always like to have my presents sorted out by now, but with the lead up to Christmas, we have been really busy at Candy Kittens, so I’m a little behind on buying presents too.

Jamie: We’re in it together buddy!

Hopefully, we've given you a gentle reminder then! At Candy Kittens, we’re already in the Christmas spirit! Have you seen our fabulous tree?

Jamie: I saw it the other day! It’s so cool and I’m pretty impressed that the baubles match the colours of our sweets.

Ed: And they’ve hung bags of Candy Kitten sweets on the tree too Jamie!

Jamie: That’s brilliant! Makes it even better.

Thanks. We are pretty proud of it… So this week we want to talk to you about the inspiration behind your Candy Kittens Van.

Jamie: Our first van! God that brings back memories.

Ed: Yeah, in the very early stages of Candy Kittens we used to sell sweets out of that van.

Why did you get a van in the first place? What was the idea behind it?

Ed: It was really important to have something that looked cool and eye-catching, so we thought of creating the ultimate ice-cream van from our childhood memories.

Jamie: Yeah, that’s where the inspiration came from. We wanted it to look modern. Think DJ decks in the back and an awesome sound system. That’s what we were going for.

Do you still have this van? What happened to it?

Ed: No, unfortunately, we don’t.  The problem was that the van had the worst engine in the world! Loads of issues.

Jamie: It didn’t work in the end so we had to get rid of it. It was such a sad time! Ed, do you remember the time Brad was sat in the back on a deckchair because there were no seats.

Ed: Haha, yes now thinking about it, the van was pretty knackered. We had to stick our hand out the window to tell people that we were breaking because the brake lights didn’t work either!

That sounds like a bit of a nightmare! Have you got a new van now?

Ed: Thankfully we have, and it’s working perfectly.

Jamie: Yeah, but I do miss our old van Ed. Maybe one day we’ll buy one again for old times sake. But we are really happy with the one we have now. It was always parked outside our old office like our little pride and joy!

I’m glad your new van is working perfectly now! Thanks for coming to chat with us today, we’re already looking forward to next week’s episode of TBT!
