TBT WITH CKHQ

Here at CKHQ, we're taking you all on a trip down memory lane! Throwback Thursday happens right here on our blogs EVERY week. We will be chatting to our founders, Jamie Laing and Ed Williams about the growth and development of the Candy Kittens brand!

Stay tuned WEEKLY for unknown facts, some hilarious stories, and an insight into life at Candy Kittens!

Hey guys, how's your week been so far?

Ed: We’ve had a great start. On Monday we finally moved into our brand new office in Hammersmith which is a massive step up from where we were in Fulham.

Jamie: It was a little bit sad to say goodbye to our first proper home, but this is definitely and exciting step for Candy Kittens and gives us SO much more room for meetings, roundtable discussions, team lunches and a little game of table tennis when we're feeling a bit competitive haha!

Ed: Yeah, we’re definitely happy to have a new base to call home, and the whole team have been loving it too.

I can definitely vouch for the team loving it, I’m personally a massive fan of the swing in the main office space. So today we thought we’d dig a little further into the creation of “Candy Kittens: Recipes for Sweet Treats” your first cookbook! How did you come up with the idea?

Jamie: Sweet Treats was an idea that wasn’t started by Ed or myself...Funnily enough it was an idea that came from a lady who visited us at a pop-up!

Ed: That’s right! We had been set up for about 3 months at that point, when a lady approached us and suggested the idea… It was really random but we went with it and had a lot of fun in the process.

Jamie: We started to test some recipe ideas such as white chocolate and raspberry Candy Kittens bark, Candy Kittens Jammy Dodgers and I think we even had an apple and elderflower jelly recipe in there.

Ed: We definitely came up with some slightly whacky recipes which I’m not sure were the most tantalising but it was our first time doing a project like this!

Jamie: To be fair, the Eton Mess cupcakes were pretty good, I definitely made a few batches of those to take to my family who liked them, but maybe they were just being polite haha!

You’ll have to get baking again Jamie and bring them into the office for us all to try! So do you think there will be a second edition?

Ed: It was a lot of fun and I would definitely love to do something along the same lines again.

Jamie: Yeah I think it would be really fun to come up with even more creative recipes, especially now that we have our new Tropical Mango sweet.

Ed: Yeah we could come up with some tropical treats like a mango sorbet which could be topped with Candy Kittens!

Jamie: Ohhh that sounds pretty good. Let’s do it!

Well we’ll all be eagerly awaiting a second edition! Thanks for coming to chat with us today, we’re already looking forward to next week’s episode of TBT!
