Say Hey To Laura, Our New Supply Chain Manager!
by Tamara Southward 09 July 2019
Last week, we welcomed our latest Londoner and new Supply Chain Manager, Laura, to Candy Kittens, and we couldn't be more excited to have her on board! No stranger to the FMCG industry, Laura worked in both the Sales and Operations team at Piccolo, an organic baby food company, allowing her to gain an all-rounded understanding of in the ins and outs of how small businesses operate. Following this experience and her studies in economics at the University of Bristol, Laura will be putting her knack for numbers to great use here at CKHQ - alongside countless other tasks as detailed below!
What is the best part about working for Candy Kittens so far?
I’m so lucky to work with such an integrated team where each person individually contributes to the success of the company, which enables everyone to share the highs of the wins together. There’s so much passion for the brand in the office, and it’s a really positive environment to be part of!
Describe a day in the life.
In a nutshell, my job is to ensure that we have enough product to fulfil our customers' demands. My day consists of liaising with our suppliers, looking at their production plans for the next few months, and connecting with the sales team to see that it matches their plans for the year ahead. I also need to make sure our systems are reporting the correct stock levels, so lots of Excel spreadsheets and numbers involved!
What is the best part of your role?
I really enjoy getting to oversee every aspect of the supply chain, as it’s really rewarding to see how a product goes from raw ingredients to the physical sweet that our consumers love. The operations team covers everything from the manufacturing of a product to the delivery to the stores, so I love how varied my role is.
Which upcoming Candy Kittens event are you most looking forward to?
Not sure if it counts as a CK event, but my inner logistics geek would say that I’m most excited to visit our suppliers to experience first-hand all the components of our inbound supply chain! It’s always great to meet the people that contribute to making the sweets and getting it into our customers' hands.
Wild Strawberry is definitely my weakness - I find it hard not to finish an entire pack myself!
Tell us a fun fact about you!
I once swallowed a 5p coin. 20 years later, I still have it, and it's probably my oldest possession!
